We are looking for a data administrator/medical secretary to join our friendly team at Pennys Hill Practice. You should have previous experience in a customer service environment, be flexible and willing to learn, and have the ability to work under pressure. Applicants should also be confident and able to project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone, as well as offer general assistance to the practice team. Whilst knowledge and experience of the NHS are beneficial, they are not essential, and training will be given. This is a challenging role at times, but it is also very rewarding.
Main duties of the job include:

- Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Assistant to the Practice Manager or Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.
About us:
Pennys Hill Practice is based in Ferndown Town Centre, within walking distance to all amenities and the local supermarket. The practice shares purpose-built premises with Orchid House Surgery, providing a range of community services from attached facilities. We are a six-partner practice providing a range of primary care and community health services from Ferndown Medical Centre. We run a personal list system for our 6 GPs and have approximately 7500 patients registered with us. We also have 3 practice nurses, 1 Phlebotomist, 1 HCA, 1 tracker nurse/HCA, and our reception team.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: Good standard of general education, GCSE mathematics or equivalent, GCSE English or equivalent, further education qualifications in typing.
- Others: Flexibility of working hours/ability to work at desired times.
- Qualities & Attributes: An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality; ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense; ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities; ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team; pleasant and articulate; able to work under pressure; able to work in a changing environment; able to use own initiative; smart appearance.
- Experience: Experience of Microsoft Office software; experience of dealing with the public/patients; a good team player; able to take messages accurately and deal with appropriately.
