We are looking for a permanent GP to cover 6 sessions a week, which are all in core hours. We are keen to develop and increase the services that we offer to our patients and would offer mentorship & training to our new GP and value any suggestions for future progression.
Main duties of the job:
- Permanent Salaried GP to see patients face to face and via telephone for 6 sessions a week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- The services we offer (subject to Covid 19 regulations) are:
- Joint injections (including referrals from other practices)
- Minor surgery in a fully equipped minor op room
- Comprehensive family planning service including nexplanon / IUD fitting and removal and provision of emergency contraception
- Primary Care Gynaecology Service
- Baby Checks
- Physiotherapy
- Health Trainers
- Exercise Classes delivered by Inspiring Healthy Lifestyle trainers in our fully equipped Gym
About us:
We currently have 09 partners and 6 salaried GPs that are supported by 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomist and a large administration team. The clinical system is Systmone and the practice uses the AskMyGP online consulting platform. Pennygate is a large busy practice in the borough of Wigan with approximately 19,000 patients; we are a training practice currently supporting ST3, ST1 and FY2 doctors as well as nursing students. We consistently achieve excellent QOF and Primary Care Standards results and meet all CQC standards.
Job responsibilities:
Pennygate Medical Centre is looking for a new GP to join our diverse team. Competitive salary package includes NHS pension and full indemnity costs, with 6 weeks holiday. We are a purpose built surgery situated close to the M61 and rail network.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
