We are looking to recruit a Catering Operations Manager for an independent company operating an in-house daytime restaurant and food retail units with strong values centred around customer service, professionalism, quality of product, and high standards. Based in the Leatherhead area, you will have full financial, operational and strategic responsibility for the restaurant and retail units, and will be a passionate foodie with strong financial and commercial acumen. As well as possessing excellent people management skills and the drive to succeed. Without corporate brand constraints, you will have the autonomy to really develop the offer and shape the business. A massive bonus is that the entire business is a daytime operation, so you will have a great work-life balance.

The role:
- Accountability for multiple P & L accounts, budgets, costs and labour
- Recruit, train, develop, lead, motivate and performance manage your team
- Develop the food offer with the head chef
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers
- Implement and manage robust control measures to ensure consistency and compliance
- Work with the managers to drive sales
- Have a keen eye for detail - know what good looks like
- Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service
- Work to company targets and KPIs
You will have:
- Experience as a restaurant/cafe/food led pub/coffee shop area/senior manager/operations/multi-site manager in high volume commercial customer facing operations - ideally a mix of independent and corporate restaurants with some food retail knowledge
- Menu development skills alongside a creative approach to driving sales
- Very strong financial & commercial acumen - P & L accountability
- Excellent communication, people management, leadership and coaching skills
- A lead from the front approach and a very keen eye for detail
- An intrinsic understanding of legislation & compliance
- The ability to motivate and enthuse people and teams to deliver results
- A positive and outgoing personality and outlook
- IT literacy - working with systems & process
