Position: Prevention Education Coordinator – Non-Exempt
Reports to: VP of Programs
Supervises: Interns as applicable
Staff Member Responsibilities: This position is a member of the implementation team at the YWCA Carlisle & Cumberland County and is considered a high functioning, professional staff member on our team. This position is required to represent the agency mission, speak as a representative of the agency, and understand the difference between the agency agenda/perspective and a personal perspective/feeling. Many of the agency perspectives will be formed by YWCA USA, PCAR, PCCD or the Board of Directors. Due to the nature of agency programming and requirements set forth by PCAR and PCCD, ethical principles are at the heart of all program implementation.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead facilitator of school-based prevention education programming in Cumberland County School Districts.
- Ensures all educational programming initiatives are conducted professionally, responsibly, and ethically.
- Oversees the delegation of assignments and recordkeeping of educational (youth and adults) programs to team members.
- Provides mentorship and resources for staff, interns, and volunteers as it relates to educational programming.
- Provides support to victims and survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking.
- Completes 40 hours of Sexual Assault Counselor Training within the new hire probation period.
- Coordinates all school-based and community prevention education programs on behalf of the YWCA Carlisle and Cumberland County under the supervision of the VP of programs.
- Acts as lead facilitator for school-based programs, anticipate spending 20-30 hours a week in Cumberland County school settings.
- Assigns school-based and community education programs to members of the direct services team.
- Provides hotline coverage shifts and direct services outside of peak seasons for educational programs, as needed/assigned.
- Works collaboratively with other team members and VP of Programs to ensure all systems and protocols are being followed to maintain up to date and accurate information.
- Spearheads the creation of new educational programming in the fields of anti-sexual violence, human trafficking, and the promotion of empowerment as it relates to our mission.
- Research evidence-based curricula and best practices on successful programming across the national YWCA network to assess viability in Cumberland County.
- Drive and assist as needed in creating new curriculum and programs.
- Remains current with new prevention strategies in the fields of anti-sexual violence, human trafficking, and the promotion of empowerment as it relates to our mission.
- Builds relationships with partner agencies to promote agency’s mission and initiatives.
- Ensures records are kept accurately and confidentially according to agency standards.
- Completes 10 hours of skills development through various meetings, conferences, networking events with community agencies on an annual basis.
- Flexible schedule required – may need to work evening and occasional weekend hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or related field or related work/volunteer experience.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating programs/trainings.
- Willingness to build and maintain professional relationships and conduct cold outreach as required for the position.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License as regular weekly travel throughout the county needed as part of community outreach and program presentations.
- Ability to provide current, acceptable clearances (Criminal, Child Abuse, FBI, and National Sex Offender Registry Verification) in accordance with YWCA policies.
- Commitment to serving all clients in a manner which facilitates healing and empowerment.
- Has or acquires basic knowledge of YWCA computer system. (Windows, Microsoft Office)
