Responsibilities
- Complete the monthly, half-yearly and annual close processes for the Pennon Group companies, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Responsibility for the quality and integrity of monthly accounting entries to the ledger, including sourcing and documenting supporting information from stakeholders.
- Controlling the Fixed Asset Register, including transactional entries and regular reconciliation.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies as required.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations and internal policies and be able to demonstrate this with evidence (eg internal or external audit).
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for reporting and analysis.
- Help to develop and implement best practice processes to ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the R2R function.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in accounting, preferably with experience of transactional accounting.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities including process improvement.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to extract and understand detailed complex financial information and document this.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
