We are looking for a Meter Reader based in Exeter. This is a full‑time, permanent role with a salary of £26,411 per annum plus a range of company benefits.

About The Role

As a Meter Reader for South Water, you’ll be out reading customer water meters across our service area to help ensure accurate billing. Your primary area will be the Exeter area and outwards, ideal for partners living within EX1 to EX12.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Accurately record and report water meter readings across our service area
  • Deliver great customer service for both Household and Non‑Household customers
  • Optimise your time, routes, and mileage – local knowledge helps!
  • Complete scheduled and unscheduled meter readings to meet your targets
  • Report faulty meters for repair, meters not set up on the system, and suspected meter fraud cases for investigation
  • Communicate well with customers and colleagues
  • Ensure company van and equipment are all up to date and in good working order
  • Prioritise Health and Safety and follow Home Safe guidance & procedures

What We Are Looking For

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Confidence and experience interacting face‑to‑face with customers
  • Ability to deliver targets and goals
  • Comfortable with lone working – in all weather conditions
  • Basic computer skills for accurately reporting meter readings
