About the Role
The role of the Leakage Technician is to reduce leakage either through proactive leak detection or by following up ‘potential leaks’ identified by Leak Detectors. This will require the accurate pin‑pointing of leak positions and the capture of all necessary details to ensure our Partner contractor or Customer Leakage Team has all the information they need to expedite prompt and effective repairs. You will join us on a full‑time, permanent basis and receive a salary of £28,304 – £36,932 per annum plus benefits. The role is aligned to a progression scheme that supports the development and training of individuals to become fully competent, accountable leakage technicians.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Reducing leakage from the company’s potable water network
- Locating and pin‑pointing leak positions
- Tracing the route of water pipes and fittings
- Undertaking ‘step tests’ as part of a team
- Mentoring Leakage Detectors to ensure best practice at all times
- Performing basic meter maintenance activities
- Undertaking all duties associated with customer appointments, ensuring company procedures are followed at all times
- Undertaking all work with due care and consideration for health and safety
- Undertaking any other reasonable tasks required to support the DWS and company vision
What We Are Looking For
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject
- National Water Hygiene Certificate
- NRSWA – Unit 2
- Manual Handling knowledge
- COSHH knowledge
- Confined Space awareness
- Basic first aid
- Valve operations experience
- Relevant experience working within leakage
- Experience using modern leakage control techniques and equipment
- Relevant experience in Water Supply Networks
- Ability to identify customer leakage issues and take responsibility for repair
- Computer skills including advanced Strumap, MS Office and corporate applications
- Map reading
- General H&S awareness
- Full UK Driver’s Licence
