Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Costs Lawyer/Draftsperson to join our friendly and dynamic costs team. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of inter-party costs and solicitor/client costs work. They should work well in a team environment and ideally demonstrate the ability to streamline processes, monitor outcomes and performance, and advise the fee-earning team on costs issues. While it is preferable if the candidate is already a qualified Costs Lawyer, it is not essential, provided they have at least 4 years PQE.

The appointed Costs Lawyer/Draftsperson will demonstrate a commercial approach focused on achieving the best results for the team and business. They must also be confident in dealing with external providers and ensuring a high level of service.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to collaborate with the Costs Manager, other costs lawyers, and fee-earning teams
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload across a large team to maximize cash flow
  • Provide thorough and reasoned advice on all costs aspects
  • High-quality drafting skills
  • Experience in paying party work
  • Ability to provide detailed analysis
  • Structured approach to work with adherence to fixed timetables in costs cases
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong technical and legal knowledge of costs law
  • Knowledge of Arbitration/International Arbitration rules and procedures
  • Commitment to staying updated with recent developments
  • Professional approach to external providers and third parties
  • This role requires working at least 3 days a week in the office
