PYS is a growing provider with one operational property and a second property currently being mobilised.
We have clear plans for responsible expansion across Lancashire while maintaining strong safeguarding, quality and compliance standards.
The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager, Service Manager or Registered Service Manager who wants to play a key role in developing a high-quality supported accommodation service.
This is a hands-on management opportunity that would particularly suit an experienced Deputy Manager or Service Manager who is ready to progress into their first Ofsted-registered management role.
The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operation of the service, support and develop staff, maintain strong safeguarding and compliance standards and help mobilise additional PYS properties.
PYS will support the successful candidate through the process of applying to Ofsted to become the Registered Service Manager for the service.
Appointment to the registered role will be subject to Ofsted approval and continuing suitability.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the safe and effective day-to-day management of the supported accommodation service
* Ensure compliance with the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023, the Supported Accommodation Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
* Promote strong safeguarding practice and ensure the welfare of young people remains the overriding priority
* Lead, supervise, coach and develop support staff
* Ensure staff receive effective induction, supervision, appraisal and training
* Oversee support plans, placement plans, risk assessments, safety plans and case recording
* Maintain effective quality-assurance, auditing and service-improvement systems
* Ensure the service remains prepared for Ofsted inspection
* Support referrals, placement matching, impact assessments and admission planning
* Build effective relationships with local authorities, social workers, commissioners and partner agencies
* Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, complaints, incidents and regulatory notifications
* Support the mobilisation and opening of additional PYS properties
* Maintain a visible management presence across the service and provide practical leadership when required About You You will be a confident, organised and values-led manager with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
You must have:
* At least two years experience, gained within the last five years, in a position relevant to the residential support of children or adults
* Demonstrable experience supporting children or young people in supported accommodation, residential childcare, leaving-care services or a similar setting
* Experience supervising, leading or managing staff
* Strong safeguarding, risk-management and support-planning knowledge
* An understanding of the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and Ofsted expectations
* The ability to lead a service, make sound decisions and challenge poor practice
* Strong written communication, record-keeping and organisational skills
* The confidence to work independently while remaining accountable to the provider
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
* The right to work in the UK
* The ability to meet Ofsteds fitness and suitability requirements for a Registered Service Manager
* An Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to complete the required checks Desirable
* Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Service Manager, Registered Manager or Registered Service Manager
* Experience of Ofsted registration, inspection preparation or quality assurance
* A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or an equivalent relevant qualification
* Experience supporting care-experienced young people or Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children
* Experience opening, mobilising, developing or improving a supported accommodation service
* Experience overseeing more than one property or staff team Salary and Progression The starting salary is £32,000 per annum.
Salary will be formally reviewed as PYS expands and the scope and complexity of the role materially increase, with potential progression up to £45,000 per annum.
Progression will be based on service growth, increased management responsibility, successful Ofsted registration, safeguarding and compliance standards, audit outcomes, staff leadership and overall performance.
Any salary increase will be confirmed in writing following formal review.
