The predicted salary is between 38250 - 46750 £ per year.

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the successful candidate will work as part of a small team responsible for ensuring the equipment is maintained to a high standard with an emphasis on the safe operating condition.

Equipment reliability is key and therefore one of the main responsibilities will be working to the planned preventative maintenance program.

This will involve working with the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to generate / close out work orders and search for spares listed against assets.

There will also be a need to ensure any reactive maintenance activities (breakdowns) are effectively dealt with in a timely manner.

It is essential for the successful candidate to have a good skill level for fitting, welding and fabrication activities.

The plant operates on a 24-hour basis and therefore the successful candidate may be required to provide out-of-hours mechanical breakdown cover as required by the business.

You must be able to demonstrate experience and a good track record for safety, health and environmental awareness.

You will be required to challenge others to work safely and develop a thorough knowledge of site‑specific Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.

  • Accountabilities
  • Attendance in Daily Team Briefs and department meetings.
  • Compliance with company Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality policies. Report near hits, unsafe acts/conditions and workplace hazards.
  • Work in a safe manner, ensuring the Health & Safety of yourself and others.
  • Responsibility for the execution of the mechanical preventative maintenance program.
  • Advise on the extent of repairs, replacement, and maintenance issues.
  • Advise on foreseeable maintenance requirements and essential spares requirements.
  • Contribute to RCA failure analysis to ensure a full understanding of equipment downtime.
  • Active involvement in the commissioning of any new plant or equipment.
  • Understanding of current plant equipment issues and information
  • Early fault diagnosis leading to a timely planned rectification and therefore avoiding breakdowns.
  • Excellent understanding of equipment condition and operational risks
  • Ensure a full understanding of equipment downtime and actions to prevent a recurrence
  • Have a full understanding of the mechanical requirements (maintenance / critical spares) of newly commissioned equipment

Qualifications

  • Time served Apprenticeship.
  • NC or equivalent level of education in Mechanical Engineering. (essential)
  • HNC or equivalent level of education in Mechanical Engineering. (advantageous)

Experience

  • Experience working in an aggregates or chemical processing industry

Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of mechanical plant operations
  • Knowledge of site‑specific Safety, Health and Environmental procedures
  • Ability to assess safety/health risks and implement corrective measures
  • Working knowledge of plant and machinery and associated control systems
  • Working knowledge of mechanical drive systems
