We are looking to recruit two Salaried GPs to share 10-12 sessions per week at Penn Hill Surgery in Yeovil, caring for approximately 10,350 patients. The role involves delivering the full range of general practice services within a total triage model (AskMyGP), including a mix of remote and face-to-face consultations, supported clinical administration, and multidisciplinary team working. GPs work with structured workloads and support from a wider clinical and non-clinical team. This opportunity arises from a combination of practice growth and the relocation of a long-standing GP, allowing us to further develop our service and meet increasing patient demand. We are a training practice with a strong team ethos, aiming to provide a supportive, collaborative, and sustainable working environment.

Penn Hill Surgery is a well-established training practice providing care to approximately 10,350 patients. We are committed to delivering a high standard of general practice, with continuity of care through personal lists, while also working closely with neighbouring practices as part of the Yeovil Primary Care Network. We use EMIS Web and a range of digital tools to support efficient, modern primary care.

- 4 GP Partners
- 2 Salaried GPs
- 5 Practice Nurses
- Clinical Pharmacist

- Experienced non-clinical team including prescription clerks, reception, medical secretaries and management team
We place a strong emphasis on teamwork and sustainable working. This includes daily clinical huddles and informal coffee breaks, a shared approach to workload (including admin support), and an open-door culture for advice and discussion. We support ongoing development through regular training, including a monthly half-day closure, and aim to maintain a realistic workload and good work-life balance for all team members.
Job responsibilities
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide general medical services managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
- Make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone and other remote consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, etc.
- Participate in clinical administration including laboratory results, tasks, radiology results, and hospital communications.
- Make professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
- Record clinical information in the GP practice computerised clinical software systems.
- Manage patients with chronic disease or complex problems, and palliative/terminal care needs.
- Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients.
- Prescribe in accordance with the NHS Somerset prescribing formulary whenever clinically appropriate.
- Comply with relevant Practice policy/guidelines.
- Be committed to lifelong learning, audit and evidence-based best practice.
