Penmaenmawr Town Council is seeking a motivated and organised individual to join the Council as a Senior Administrator & Governance Officer. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the local community, supporting the day‑to‑day administration of the Council and helping ensure its services, governance, and projects are delivered effectively.
About the Role
- Preparing agendas, reports and taking minutes at Council and Committee meetings
- Managing enquiries from residents, councillors and stakeholders
- Maintaining records, systems and office administration
- Supporting financial administration, including invoices and payment processes
- Updating the Council’s website and communications
- Assisting with projects, events and community initiatives
- Supporting the preparation, submission and administration of grant applications, including monitoring funded projects and ensuring compliance with funding requirements
This is a key support role within a small team, requiring strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload.
About You
Essential
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both written and verbal
- Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional standards
Desirable
- Experience in local government or a similar administrative environment
- Experience of supporting meetings, including agenda preparation and minute taking
- Experience of financial administration processes
- Experience of supporting grant applications or project delivery
- Awareness of governance processes within a public sector setting
- Basic understanding of Welsh language (or willingness to learn)
Working Arrangements
- 30 hours per week
- Regular evening meetings and occasional weekend civic duties
- Time off in lieu (TOIL) is provided for additional hours worked
