The Opportunity
Our client, a leading environmental consultancy, is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their growing team in Dorking. This role offers the chance to take a leading position on a range of ecological projects, providing expertise and guidance across a diverse portfolio of clients.
As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in shaping ecological strategies, mentoring junior staff, and delivering high‑quality ecological advice and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate ecological surveys and assessments, including protected species and habitat surveys
- Prepare ecological reports, Environmental Impact Assessments, and planning documents
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies and biodiversity enhancement plans
- Manage projects, budgets, and client relationships, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery
- Mentor and support junior ecologists, sharing expertise and fostering professional development
- Ensure all work complies with UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and industry best practice
About You
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Significant experience in an ecological consultancy or similar role
- Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and survey methodologies
- Proven experience managing projects and supervising staff
- Excellent report‑writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Full UK driving licence
