An established multidisciplinary ground engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional to take a leading role in the delivery of complex infrastructure and development projects while helping to mentor and develop junior staff within a collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing technically challenging projects from tender stage through to completion, overseeing site investigations, geotechnical design, client liaison and project delivery. The Role
- Leading and managing geotechnical projects across the UK
- Designing and overseeing ground investigations
- Producing and reviewing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports
- Carrying out geotechnical design including foundations, retaining walls, slope stability and earthworks
- Managing project budgets, resources and programme delivery
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers
- Supporting business development, fee proposals and client relationships
- Liaising with contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary teams
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high technical standard
Requirements
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
- Chartered status or working towards Chartership desirable
- Significant experience within a geotechnical consultancy environment
- Strong technical reporting and design experience
- Experience managing projects and leading teams
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Knowledge of current geotechnical standards and industry best practice
- Full UK driving licence
