The Opportunity
A growing environmental laboratory service in Watford is looking to appoint a Geotechnical Testing Engineer to join its expanding laboratory and site investigation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in soil and geotechnical testing who is looking to develop their career within a supportive business that offers clear progression into senior technician, laboratory management, or project engineering roles.
The Role
You’ll be involved in a range of laboratory and site-based geotechnical testing activities supporting residential, commercial, infrastructure, and redevelopment projects across the South East.
Typical duties include
- Undertaking geotechnical laboratory testing on soils and aggregates.
- Moisture content, Atterberg limits, compaction, CBR, particle size distribution, and other standard tests.
- Recording and reporting test results accurately.
- Assisting with site investigations and sampling when required.
- Calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Ensuring work is completed in line with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
- Supporting senior engineers with technical reporting and data management.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with
- Previous experience in geotechnical or materials testing.
- An understanding of common laboratory testing procedures.
- Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- A full UK driving licence (preferred).
- Relevant qualifications in geology, civil engineering, geotechnics, or a related discipline are advantageous but not essential.
