Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning and design consultancy in their search for an Associate Planner to join their team in Milton Keynes. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate Planner to join a collaborative and forward-thinking consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and strategic development projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in project leadership, client management, and supporting the continued growth of the planning team.

THE ROLE

As an Associate Planner, you will lead on planning projects from initial strategy through to submission and determination. You will manage key client relationships, oversee project delivery, and support junior colleagues while continuing to develop your career as an Associate Planner within a respected multidisciplinary consultancy environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading and managing major planning applications and appeals
  • Providing strategic planning advice across a range of development projects
  • Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
  • Preparing and reviewing high-quality planning reports and supporting documentation
  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Assisting with project management and team coordination
  • Contributing to business development and networking activities

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
  • MRTPI qualified
  • Strong experience within a planning consultancy environment
  • Excellent understanding of the UK planning system
  • Proven experience managing projects and client relationships
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior planners desirable
