A growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead the delivery of water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects across the UK. As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will act as a technical authority across multidisciplinary schemes, working closely with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery from feasibility through to construction support.
The Principal Civil Engineer will oversee technical governance, mentor engineers and support business growth while driving quality and innovation across the civil engineering team. This role suits someone who enjoys leadership, project ownership and helping shape a growing consultancy environment.
Key responsibilities- Lead civil design and delivery for water and wastewater projects
- Oversee RC design, foundations and associated civil works
- Review and approve technical reports, drawings and specifications
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical and process engineering teams
- Undertake site visits, inspections and construction support activities
- Mentor and develop senior and junior engineers
- Manage project budgets, programmes and resource planning
- Support proposals, bids and business development activities
- Promote quality assurance, health and safety and continuous improvement
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status with ICE, IStructE, CIWEM or similar
- Around 10 years' experience within the UK water sector
- Strong technical understanding of non-infrastructure project delivery
- Experience using tools such as TEDDS, STAAD, Tekla or AutoCAD
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence
