We are working with a well-established and growing geotechnical and geoenvironmental consultancy who are looking to appoint a Senior Engineering Geologist to join their Sheffield team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geologist or geotechnical professional looking to take the next step in their career within a technically strong and supportive environment.

The Role

As a Senior Engineering Geologist, you will play a key role in delivering and managing ground investigation projects across a wide range of sectors including infrastructure, residential, commercial, and energy. You will be responsible for both site and office-based work, leading investigations from desk study through to reporting and interpretation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and delivering ground investigation projects from inception to completion
  • Supervision of site investigations, including rotary, cable percussion, and trial pitting works
  • Geological and geotechnical interpretation of site data and ground models
  • Production of factual and interpretive reports including GIR, GDR, and interpretive sections
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and design teams
  • Mentoring junior engineers and geologists
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

About You

  • Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Earth Sciences or similar
  • Significant experience within ground investigation or geotechnical consultancy
  • Strong report writing and data interpretation skills
  • Good understanding of UK geology and ground investigation standards
  • Ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients
  • Working towards or already holding chartership (CGeol / CEng) is desirable
