Associate Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer Reading | £60,000 - £70,000 A rare opportunity to join a growing flood risk and drainage consultancy at Associate level. We're working with a specialist consultancy who are looking to bring an experienced Associate Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer into their Reading team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career, with the chance to manage projects, work closely with clients and play a key role in the continued growth of the team. The role You'll be involved in a mixture of technical delivery, project management and client liaison, with plenty of scope to take ownership of your work. Your work will include: Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies Undertaking surface water, fluvial and groundwater flood risk assessments Designing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) Carrying out drainage calculations and hydraulic modelling Reviewing drainage designs and providing technical advice Supporting planning applications and liaising with Local Authorities Managing projects from initial brief through to completion Building and maintaining strong client relationships Supporting and mentoring junior members of the teamWhat we're looking for We're looking for someone with solid experience in flood risk and drainage consultancy who is ready for an Associate-level opportunity. You'll ideally have: A relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geography or a related subject Several years' experience within flood risk and/or drainage consultancy Experience producing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies Good knowledge of SuDS and UK planning requirements Experience with hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW or InfoWorks ICM Strong communication and report-writing skills The confidence to manage projects and liaise directly with clientsWhat's on offer This is a rare opportunity to join a growing specialist consultancy at Associate level, with the autonomy to take ownership of projects and the opportunity to play a key role in the development of the wider team.
