Principal Botanist – Midlands / M1 Corridor £45,000 – £55,000 A respected ecological consultancy is looking for a Principal Botanist. This role is for someone who can combine scientific expertise with practical field expertise – someone as comfortable mentoring a team as they are identifying indicator species in a meadow. What you\’ll need: FISC Level 4 – a must for this role, reflecting your depth of botanical knowledge. Extensive field experience – leading botanical surveys and vegetation assessments, with a strong understanding of UK plant ecology and habitats. Leadership skills – proven experience in mentoring and managing teams, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects. Commercial acumen – the ability to manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality outcomes on time and within budget. Communication skills – the ability to engage clients and contribute to project bids, technical reports, and ecological strategies.
