A specialist environmental consultancy is looking to recruit a Junior Contaminated Land Specialist to join their remediation team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or junior consultant to gain hands-on experience working on contaminated land and remediation projects alongside experienced specialists.

The successful Junior Contaminated Land Specialist will support the delivery of site investigations, remediation projects and environmental assessments across a variety of residential, commercial and industrial developments. The successful Junior Contaminated Land Specialist will have:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering or a related subject
  • Around 6 months to 2 years' experience within contaminated land, geo-environmental or remediation consultancy (graduates with relevant placements are encouraged to apply)
  • An interest in contaminated land assessment and remediation
  • Good report writing and communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting with intrusive site investigations and environmental sampling
  • Supporting the design and delivery of remediation projects
  • Monitoring remediation works on site
  • Logging soils and groundwater during ground investigations
  • Assisting with contaminated land risk assessments
  • Producing factual reports and supporting interpretative reporting
  • Liaising with contractors, clients and subcontractors
  • Ensuring work is completed safely and in line with current guidance
