This is a fantastic opportunity for a Town Planner (Retail) to join a highly regarded consultancy with a strong reputation in retail and town centre planning. You will work on a diverse range of retail-led projects, advising major clients on planning strategy, site promotion, and development opportunities across the UK.

THE ROLE

As a Town Planner (Retail), you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial strategy through to submission and determination. You will support and manage retail planning projects, providing expert advice on town centre uses, retail impact assessments, and planning policy, developing your career as a Town Planner (Retail) within a specialist and dynamic team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals for retail developments
  • Undertaking retail impact assessments and sequential assessments
  • Preparing planning statements and supporting documentation
  • Advising clients on retail and town centre planning strategy
  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders
  • Attending client meetings, site visits, and consultations
  • Supporting senior team members on complex retail schemes
  • Assisting with project coordination and delivery

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
  • MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership
  • Experience within a planning consultancy or similar environment
  • Experience or strong interest in retail/town centre planning
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system and retail policy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organisational abilities
  • A proactive and commercially aware approach
