Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a leading, multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior / Principal Planning Consultant to join their established planning team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take on a senior role, working on a wide range of high profile projects across sectors including residential, commercial, infrastructure, regeneration, and mixed-use development. The position offers a strong platform for career progression, leadership responsibility, and involvement in shaping strategic planning outcomes.
The Role
As a Senior / Principal Planning Consultant, you will play a key role in managing complex planning projects, providing expert advice to clients, and supporting the continued growth of the planning team. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing planning applications, appeals, and pre-application strategies
- Providing strategic planning advice to a diverse client base
- Leading projects from inception through to determination
- Engaging with local authorities, stakeholders, and project teams
- Mentoring junior planners and contributing to team development
- Supporting business development and client relationship management
About You
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
- MRTPI status (or working towards for Senior level)
- Significant experience in UK planning, ideally within consultancy
- Strong report writing, communication, and project management skills
- A proactive and commercially aware approach
