We are hiring for an established multi-disciplinary building engineering consultancy with an expanding Acoustics team delivering high-quality noise, vibration and acoustic design support across major UK developments and infrastructure projects. We are looking for a Principal Acoustic Consultant to lead project delivery, mentor junior consultants and work closely with clients and design teams to provide pragmatic, commercially aware acoustic solutions.
The role involves taking ownership of a varied portfolio, including:
- Architectural acoustics support from concept through to completion
- Environmental noise and vibration impact assessments for planning and appeals
- Building services (M&E) acoustics including plant noise control and troubleshooting
- Vibration assessments and mitigation strategies, including structure-borne issues
- Technical input to complex projects and support to multi-disciplinary design teams
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience in an acoustic consultancy environment at Senior/Principal level
- Strong reporting skills and confidence engaging with clients, architects, MEP engineers and planning teams
- Solid working knowledge of relevant standards/guidance (e.g. BS 4142, BS 8233, BB93, ProPG)
- Experience with acoustic modelling software (e.g. CadnaA / SoundPLAN) and measurement equipment
- Comfortable managing multiple projects, deadlines and client expectations
Nice to have:
- Experience providing EIA/Environmental Statement support
- Construction noise & vibration experience (including Section 61 / monitoring)
- Professional membership (IOA) and progression towards Chartered status
- Interest in helping shape service delivery and supporting business growth
