Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading housebuilder in their search for a Town Planner to join their team in Wetherby. This is an exciting opportunity for a Town Planner to join a successful and growing development business, playing a key role in securing planning permissions and supporting the delivery of residential developments across the region. The successful candidate will gain exposure to the full development lifecycle, working closely with land, technical, and commercial teams.
THE ROLE
As a Town Planner, you will be responsible for managing planning projects from site appraisal through to planning permission and delivery. Working within the land and planning team, you will provide planning advice on current and future development opportunities, helping to maximise the potential of residential sites and support the company's growth strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for a Town Planner looking to gain experience from the developer side of the industry while working on a varied portfolio of residential projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing planning applications from submission through to determination
- Supporting the promotion of residential development sites through the Local Plan process
- Undertaking planning appraisals and site assessments
- Preparing planning strategies and coordinating consultant teams
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultants, and stakeholders
- Monitoring planning policy developments and emerging Local Plans
- Supporting land acquisition activities through planning due diligence
- Attending project meetings, consultations, and site visits
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership
- Experience within a planning consultancy, housebuilder, developer, or local authority environment
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and residential development process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and project management abilities
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
