A well-established and growing ecological consultancy is looking for an Associate Ecologist to join its friendly, highly experienced team. This is a senior role offering the chance to lead projects, support and mentor ecologists, and contribute to business development and strategic growth.
The role involves delivering terrestrial ecology services across a wide range of sectors, including housing, commercial development and renewable energy. The successful candidate will work closely with senior colleagues and clients, helping to deliver high-quality, practical ecological solutions.

What you’ll be doing:
- Leading terrestrial ecology surveys and site work
- Producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports
- Managing complex projects, budgets and deadlines
- Mentoring and supporting junior ecologists
- Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Supporting tenders, proposals and business development
- Working closely with senior management to help grow the ecology team
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience in ecological consultancy or a closely related field
- Relevant degree and solid UK species and habitat survey skills
- Experience with protected species surveys, mitigation and licensing
- Excellent report writing and project management skills
- Confident communicator with clients and colleagues
- Full (or eligible) CIEEM membership
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
