An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join a well-established and growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy in Basingstoke. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of brownfield redevelopment and contaminated land projects across the UK, with clear progression into leadership.
The Role
As a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technically robust and commercially aware solutions across a diverse project portfolio. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial site investigation through to remediation and verification.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and delivering geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects
- Designing and overseeing ground investigations
- Interpreting geotechnical and chemical data and producing factual and interpretive reports
- Conducting Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigations
- Risk assessments (human health, groundwater, and gas)
- Designing remediation strategies and verification reporting
- Liaising with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- 5+ years' experience in a geoenvironmental or contaminated land role
- Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
- Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., CLEA)
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, or Geological Society)
- Experience managing projects and client relationships
- Knowledge of geotechnical principles
