The Graduate Sustainability Consultant will work on a diverse range of exciting and challenging projects across various construction sectors throughout the UK, including healthcare, commercial offices, education, retail, mixed-use, and residential developments. The role aims to support the company in delivering exceptional sustainability consultancy services and contribute to the company's vision of providing integrated, high-quality service to clients, with a strong emphasis on innovative and sustainable construction practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of BREEAM certification, including conducting site inspections for a wide range of sustainability assessments such as BREEAM (Non-residential and residential), Home Quality Mark, DREAM, BREEAM In-Use, CEEQUAL, etc., while promoting continuous improvements in sustainability and environmental performance across projects.
  • Write Sustainability and Energy Statements for planning applications under the guidance of Senior Colleagues.
  • Support Senior Colleagues in researching, analysing, and reporting on Net Zero Carbon Reduction strategies, ESG reporting, Life Cycle Analysis, Corporate Sustainability Strategies, and Carbon Management, as well as providing general sustainability advice.
  • Assist Senior Colleagues in conducting office EMS audits to ensure compliance with ISO14001, as well as monitoring the Office Carbon and Energy Reduction Plans.
  • Help foster a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainable best practices within the Practice's operations and services.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Health and Wellbeing certifications, such as WELL and Fitwel.
  • Attend both internal and external project meetings, and assist with writing reports and preparing presentations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

  • A degree in a relevant field, such as Building Construction, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Building Services, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience as a Sustainability Consultant, including familiarity with BREEAM or other sustainability certifications, is highly desirable but not required.
  • A BREEAM Assessor qualification is a plus but not mandatory.
  • A strong passion for sustainability, along with a solid understanding of sustainable building design, renewable energy solutions, and low-carbon technologies.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable but not required.
