The successful candidate will join a small, experienced planning team and work closely with architects, clients, developers and other professional consultants. The practice has particular experience across commercial, industrial, employment and mixed-use development, with projects ranging from smaller schemes through to major developments across London and the wider UK. Key Responsibilities As a Senior Town Planner, you will be responsible for: Managing a varied portfolio of planning projects from inception through to determination Providing professional planning advice to clients and project teams Preparing and managing planning applications, including complex commercial and mixed-use schemes Preparing planning statements, appraisals, representations and other supporting documentation Developing planning strategies tailored to clients' objectives and project requirements Undertaking research into national and local planning policy Liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities Managing relationships with clients, consultants and other stakeholders Advising on planning risks, opportunities and development potential Supporting the promotion of development sites and strategic planning projects Assisting with planning appeals and other planning matters where required Attending client meetings, site visits and planning committees Supporting more junior members of the planning team and sharing technical knowledge Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the planning serviceThe role will provide exposure to the full planning lifecycle, including early-stage development appraisal, planning strategy, application submission and negotiation with planning authorities. The practice's planning team currently advises developers and institutional investors across commercial, industrial and employment schemes at various stages of development. Requirements The ideal candidate will have: A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline Previous experience within a planning consultancy, development organisation or local planning authority Ideally MRTPI qualified, or actively working towards Chartered status Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, including relevant national and local planning policy Demonstrable experience managing or contributing to planning applications Experience providing planning advice to clients and project teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong report-writing and analytical abilities Excellent organisational and project management skills The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively A proactive and commercially aware approach Confidence dealing directly with clients, planning officers and external consultants The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary teamThe Opportunity This role offers the chance to join a close-knit, multidisciplinary practice where planning is integrated closely with design and project delivery.
