Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading multi-disciplinary planning and design consultancy to recruit an EIA Consultant to join their established Environmental team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to play a central role in the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, commercial, infrastructure, and mixed-use schemes.
About the Role
As an EIA Consultant, you will coordinate and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments, supporting planning submissions and ensuring compliance with UK regulations. You will work closely with planners, technical specialists, clients, and stakeholders, delivering high-quality EIA documentation and helping shape sustainable, well-informed development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate EIA projects from feasibility through to submission
- Liaise with local authorities, clients, and stakeholders to support the planning process
- Prepare Environmental Statements, screening and scoping reports
- Instruct and manage specialist sub-consultants and technical inputs
- Contribute to planning strategy, risk identification, and project mitigation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EIA legislation and best practices
Requirements
- A degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Geography or a related field
- Proven experience in EIA coordination and delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of the UK planning system and EIA regulations
- Ability to manage projects and meet tight deadlines
- Membership of IEMA or similar (or working towards)
