An established consulting engineering practice is seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer to join its structural engineering team in Edinburgh. This role would suit a graduate with a BEng or MEng in Civil and/or Structural Engineering and a strong interest in building structures. Candidates should be Graduate or Student Members of the Institution of Structural Engineers, or actively working towards membership.
The successful candidate will be involved in:
- Undertaking structural design under the supervision of experienced engineers.
- Assisting with the development and production of structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
- Reviewing architectural drawings and developing an understanding of structural layouts and load paths.
- Attending site inspections and project meetings where appropriate.
- Assisting with surveys, inspections, and structural assessments.
- Liaising with other members of the design team.
- Developing knowledge of UK design codes, Building Standards, and construction practices.
Applicants should have:
- A BEng or MEng in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
- A genuine interest in building structures.
- A sound understanding of structural design principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a consulting engineering practice.
Experience interpreting architectural drawings and specifications would be advantageous.
