Day-to-Day Your typical day will involve: Collaborating with team members to develop innovative and efficient electrical designs. Conducting calculations and preparing technical documentation for ongoing projects. Attending client and project meetings to discuss design progress and address any challenges. Performing site visits to assess project requirements and ensure compliance with design specifications. Mentoring junior team members and providing guidance on technical matters. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. Responsibilities As an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical building services designs across a diverse range of projects, including residential, education, heritage, healthcare, commercial, and community developments. Your responsibilities will include: Producing electrical building services designs and calculations. Developing designs from concept through to detailed design stages. Creating electrical layouts, schematics, and technical documentation. Performing cable calculations, load schedules, and preparing electrical specifications. Designing lighting systems and performing associated calculations. Collaborating closely with mechanical and public health engineers. Liaising with clients, contractors, and other consultants to ensure project success. Conducting site surveys and attending project meetings. Managing your workload across multiple projects simultaneously. Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and apprentices. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 3+ years' experience in electrical building services consultancy. A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. Strong knowledge of BS7671 and current Building Regulations. Proven experience delivering electrical designs across multiple RIBA stages. Proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience with Amtech or ElectricalOM. Familiarity with DIALux and/or Relux for lighting design. Revit MEP experience (desirable but not essential). A solid understanding of electrical building services systems. Excellent communication and coordination skills.
