Civil Project Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated Civil Project Engineer to join a growing consultancy delivering a variety of highways and drainage projects across the UK. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical design, project coordination and contributing to high-quality engineering solutions within a supportive, multi-office civil engineering team.
The Opportunity
As a Civil Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of multiple infrastructure schemes, working alongside graduate engineers, technicians, senior engineers and directors across several regional offices. You will work on a diverse mix of drainage, highways and development-led infrastructure projects, taking responsibility for producing accurate designs, supporting junior staff and maintaining strong communication with clients and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver highways and drainage designs for development and adoptable works.
- Prepare calculations, sketches, design models and technical drawings using AutoCAD, Site3D and Causeway Flow or equivalent.
- Follow current design standards including CIRIA guides, BRE Digest, BS EN 752, and adoptable procedures for Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 approvals.
- Manage your own workload across multiple projects, contributing to programme delivery and quality assurance.
- Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with design intent and produce associated reports and specifications.
- Assist directors with improving internal design processes and operational efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across offices, providing support and technical insight when needed.
About You
- Minimum of three years\’ UK highways and drainage design experience.
- Skilled user of AutoCAD, Site3D, Causeway Flow or similar design software.
- Strong understanding of adoptable highways and drainage standards including S278, S38 and S104.
- Commercially aware with the ability to manage budgets and support efficient project delivery.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project teams.
- Motivated, proactive and committed to continuous learning and technical development.
- Working toward chartership or interested in pursuing it.
