Are you a motivated Civil Engineer looking to grow your career on a variety of projects? A leading Civil Engineering consultancy in Sheffield is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their expanding team. This role offers hands-on experience across housing, commercial, and industrial schemes while developing technical expertise and working towards chartership.
The Role
You will work within a collaborative team, supporting projects from appraisal and planning through to detailed design. You will contribute to technical design, project management, and liaising with clients and agencies, gaining experience across civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-purchase feasibility studies and resolve planning conditions, including drainage and highways considerations
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments with in-house modelling support
- Produce drawings and calculations for adoptable highways and drainage to Building Control, NHBC, S278, S38, and S104 standards
- Prepare 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut and fill exercises, and vertical road profiles
- Support project management and delivery for suitable schemes
- Assist in training and development of team members
- Liaise with clients and external agencies including Environment Agency, Local Highway Authorities, and Water Authorities
- Attend meetings, public exhibitions, planning committees, public inquiries, and site inspections as required
- Work proactively towards chartership (ICE, IStructE, or equivalent)
About You
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Around 2 years of relevant consultancy experience
- Experience in FRAs, SuDS, drainage and highway design (S38, S278, S104)
- Proficient in AutoCAD or Civil 3D (preferred)
- Familiarity with MicroDrainage WinDES, Tuflow, or HECRAS (optional)
- Knowledge of highways and general structures
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Analytical, organised, and detail-oriented
- Effective communicator and team player
- Motivated to progress towards chartership
