THE ROLE
As an Asbestos Laboratory Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing asbestos bulk samples using polarised light microscopy (PLM) in accordance with HSG248 and UKAS procedures. Working as part of an experienced laboratory team, you will ensure samples are processed accurately and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and turnaround times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analysing asbestos bulk samples using polarised light microscopy (PLM)
- Identifying asbestos fibre types in accordance with HSG248 guidance
- Recording and reporting analytical findings accurately
- Processing samples within agreed turnaround times
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and supporting quality assurance procedures
- Ensuring compliance with UKAS standards, HSE guidance, and laboratory procedures
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- BOHS P401 qualification (or equivalent) is desirable
- Previous experience working as an Asbestos Laboratory Analyst or Bulk Analyst
- Strong understanding of HSG248 and UKAS laboratory requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Professional, reliable, and quality-focused approach to work
