Due to continued growth and an increasing project workload, they are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join their established Cardiff team.

The position of Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects across the residential, commercial, infrastructure and energy sectors. You will play a key role in project delivery, technical leadership and client development while working alongside industry-leading specialists in a collaborative environment.

Requirements for the role

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
  • Chartered status (or working towards Chartership) with a relevant professional body
  • Extensive experience within a geotechnical design consultancy environment
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design and earthworks engineering
  • Experience using geotechnical design software and numerical modelling packages
  • Proven ability to manage projects and mentor junior engineers
  • Excellent report‑writing and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and experience liaising directly with clients
  • Full UK driving licence preferred

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the design of foundations, retaining structures, slopes and earthworks solutions.
  • Undertake complex geotechnical analysis and design calculations.
  • Review and interpret ground investigation data and geotechnical reports.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
  • Manage projects from initial feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and junior engineers.
  • Attend client meetings and develop strong professional relationships.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Undertake site visits and provide technical support during construction phases.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design standards, legislation and industry best practice.
  • Support business development activities, including tender preparation and project proposals.

This is a permanent role.
