Overview
In this role you will lead the delivery of transport planning projects within a specialist consultancy, collaborating with clients, authorities and developers. You will shape transport strategies, assess development implications and contribute to master planning and bid/proposal work. The position offers ownership of major projects, mentorship for junior staff and opportunities to advance within a growing practice. You will work across UK development schemes and engage with stakeholders to drive impactful transport solutions.

Responsibilities
- Managing and delivering a varied portfolio of transport planning projects
- Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments and Transport Statements
- Developing access, parking, servicing and sustainable transport strategies
- Providing transport planning input into masterplans and development proposals
- Managing relationships with clients, authorities and stakeholders
- Supporting planning applications from feasibility to determination
- Providing input into planning appeals and inquiries where required
- Managing project programmes, budgets and deliverables
- Reviewing and mentoring junior team members
- Supporting business development and growth activities
- Representing the company at client meetings and industry events
Key requirements
- Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or related discipline
- Significant experience in transport planning consultancy
- Strong knowledge of the UK transport planning and development process
- Experience preparing Transport Assessments/Transport Statements
- Experience with Travel Plans and sustainable transport strategies
- Understanding of highways, access, parking and servicing
- Experience liaising with local highway and planning authorities
- Excellent report-writing and technical communication skills
- Strong project management and organisational abilities
- Experience managing client relationships and delivering to deadlines
- Ability to work independently and mentor juniors
- Commercially aware and client-focused approach
- Chartered status with CIHT or related qualification advantageous
