A great opportunity has arisen for a Flood Risk Engineer to join a growing consultancy in Bedford. You will support a diverse mix of residential and non-residential projects, helping to deliver high quality flood risk and drainage solutions from early planning stages through to detailed design. This is an ideal role for someone looking to develop quickly while working as part of a supportive and collaborative engineering team.
As a Flood Risk Engineer, you will prepare flood risk assessments and drainage strategies, working closely with civil engineers, planners and external consultants. You will contribute technical input to site layouts and masterplans, ensuring that drainage and flood risk considerations are integrated into the design process. The role offers plenty of variety, client interaction and opportunities to grow your expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments for planning applications.
- Produce surface water and foul water drainage strategies.
- Model drainage networks using MicroDrainage or Flow.
- Provide drainage and flood risk advice to support masterplanning.
- Liaise with clients, council officers and third party consultants.
- Support multiple live projects and contribute to team coordination.
- Degree or equivalent experience in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- Good understanding of UK drainage and flood risk guidance.
- Proficient in MicroDrainage or Flow, AutoCAD or MicroStation and Microsoft Office.
- Experience preparing drainage or flood risk reports.
- Strong written, verbal and client communication skills.
- Proactive, organised and able to manage changing project demands.
