I am recruiting for a Drainage Engineer to join a growing consultancy in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity for a Drainage Engineer looking to build strong technical foundations while working on a varied portfolio of residential and mixed-use development projects within a supportive civil engineering team. This Drainage Engineer role focuses on delivering drainage and flood risk solutions from planning through to detailed design.
As a Drainage Engineer, you will prepare drainage strategies, contribute to Flood Risk Assessments and support the development of site layouts and masterplans. You will work closely with civil engineers, planners and external consultants, gaining exposure across multiple project stages and developing strong client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities- Produce surface water and foul water drainage strategies for planning submissions
- Support the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments
- Model drainage networks using MicroDrainage or Flow
- Provide drainage input into site layouts and masterplanning
- Liaise with clients, third party consultants and local authority officers
- Manage multiple live projects and contribute to coordinated delivery
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience in civil engineering or a related discipline
- Good understanding of UK drainage standards, guidance and best practice
- Confident using MicroDrainage or Flow, AutoCAD or MicroStation
- Experience preparing drainage strategies or drainage design reports
- Strong communication skills with confidence in client interaction
- Proactive, organised and keen to progress within a supportive team
This Drainage Engineer position offers structured development, hybrid working and long term progression. The salary on offer is £32,000 - £40,000 plus benefits, including profit share, pension, life assurance, healthcare, CPD support and a positive work life balance culture.
