A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing consultancy in Bedford as they expand their civil engineering team. This is an excellent role if you are looking to develop your technical skills, gain greater responsibility and work on a wide variety of residential and non-residential development projects.
As a Civil Infrastructure Engineer, you will work on schemes ranging from small private developments to major national projects. You will support the preparation of planning submissions, detailed design packages and technical approvals, while helping to deliver practical, value-focused engineering solutions. This is a hands-on role where you will collaborate with clients, consultants and local authorities, with plenty of support from senior engineers to help you progress.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed drainage, highway and earthworks designs using Flow or MicroDrainage, and PDS or similar software.
- Create drawings and design documents using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Prepare planning submission packs, including outline, detailed and full applications.
- Deliver S38, S278 and S104 technical submissions through to approval.
- Assist with groundworks packages for tender and construction.
- Liaise with clients, design teams and council officers to support smooth project delivery.
- Manage small project teams and delegate tasks to technicians and apprentices.
- Work across multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in civil engineering.
- Strong understanding of UK drainage, highways and flood risk standards.
- Proficient in Flow or MicroDrainage, PDS, AutoCAD or MicroStation and Microsoft Office.
- Experience producing technical submissions for S38, S278 and S104.
- Confident communicator with experience in client or third-party liaison.
- Proactive, organised and keen to progress within a supportive team.
