A well-established UK-based Environmental Consultancy is seeking an experienced Air Quality Consultant to join their team in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically competent consultant with 2-5+ years of experience to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects across planning, permitting, and emissions assessments.

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Atmospheric Science, Geography, or a related field.
  • 2-5+ years of consultancy experience in air quality or emissions work.
  • Strong knowledge of UK air quality legislation, planning frameworks, and industry guidance (e.g., LAQM, IAQM, EPUK).
  • Proficiency with air dispersion modelling tools (e.g., ADMS-Roads, ADMS 5, AERMOD).
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience delivering air quality assessments for planning, permitting, or industrial projects.
  • Strong report writing and client communication skills.
  • Familiarity with GIS, DEFRA emission tools, or transport emissions modelling.
  • Working toward chartership or membership of IAQM/IES.

The Role:

You will support and manage the delivery of air quality assessments for a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, infrastructure, and industrial developments. The role is primarily desk-based, with opportunities for client engagement, modelling, and report delivery, while contributing to a growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Running air dispersion models and interpreting monitoring data.
  • Writing technical reports for planning and environmental permitting.
  • Supporting junior consultants and assisting with project coordination.
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high technical standard.

This is a full-time, Oxford-based position, offering hybrid flexibility, a competitive salary (£35,000-£45,000), company pension, bonus scheme, and a Time-Off-In-Lieu (TOIL) system instead of paid overtime-designed to support work-life balance.
