An established multidisciplinary ground engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional to take a leading role in the delivery of complex infrastructure and development projects while helping to mentor and develop junior staff within a collaborative environment.

The Role

  • Leading and managing geotechnical projects across the UK
  • Designing and overseeing ground investigations
  • Producing and reviewing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports
  • Carrying out geotechnical design including foundations, retaining walls, slope stability and earthworks
  • Managing project budgets, resources and programme delivery
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers
  • Supporting business development, fee proposals and client relationships
  • Liaising with contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high technical standard

Requirements

  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
  • Chartered status or working towards Chartership desirable
  • Significant experience within a geotechnical consultancy environment
  • Strong technical reporting and design experience
  • Experience managing projects and leading teams
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Knowledge of current geotechnical standards and industry best practice
  • Full UK driving licence
