About the Opportunity:

We are working on behalf of a highly respected, well-capitalised developer operating across the North of England, currently seeking a Strategic Planner to join their established and successful Strategic Land team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the delivery of medium to long-term planning strategies for a significant land portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning promotion of a diverse strategic land portfolio through policy and planning application routes.
  • Undertake site appraisals and assist in creating promotion strategies for new and existing land opportunities.
  • Prepare and coordinate planning applications and Local Plan representations.
  • Monitor local planning policy developments, including five-year housing land supply and housing delivery test updates.
  • Engage with planning consultants, local authorities, and key stakeholders to influence local planning outcomes.
  • Maintain landowner databases and provide planning advice to support land acquisition and promotion.
  • Assist in forecasting and budgeting for external consultants, and advise on S106 and CIL implications.
  • Attend public consultations, planning committees, and key stakeholder meetings.
  • Contribute to the team's development by sharing knowledge from CPD events and ongoing training.

What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related built environment discipline (RTPI-accredited).
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a planning-related role (housebuilder, consultancy, land promoter, or local authority).
  • Solid understanding of the planning process for major housing developments and local plan systems.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a problem-solving mindset and a can-do attitude.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.

Desirable:

  • Working towards or already achieved RTPI membership.
  • Experience preparing planning applications and Local Plan representations.
  • Exposure to planning appraisals for residential or mixed-use sites.
