Senior Acoustic Consultant

Sheffield

£40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Ready to step up and lead? My client, a respected independent acoustic consultancy with over three decades of history, is looking for a Senior Acoustic Consultant to take the reins of its North Derbyshire office team.

This is a business with a strong reputation, a loyal client base and real momentum. It has recently expanded with a second office, and the Senior Acoustic Consultant will play a central role in shaping how the team grows. If you want your work to be seen, valued and rewarded, this is the kind of company where that happens.

The role

As Senior Acoustic Consultant, you'll be the go-to technical lead for the office. You'll supervise and mentor consultants, manage workloads and keep projects moving, while still doing the technical work that made you good at this. You'll work across a varied portfolio, including planning and building acoustics, noise impact assessments, noise and vibration surveys, UKAS accredited testing and more specialist advisory work.

Benefits

  • Salary of £40,000 - £45,000
  • A genuine leadership position, with real influence over how the office runs
  • Stability and reputation: a long-established consultancy with a loyal client base
  • Growth: a business on the up, with room for the right person to grow alongside it
  • Varied, high-quality work across planning and building acoustics, noise and vibration, and UKAS accredited testing
  • A close-knit, collaborative, office-based team
  • Easy access to the M1 and surrounding cities

Duties of a Senior Acoustic Consultant include:

  • Leading and supervising a team of consultants day to day
  • Delivering complex noise and vibration assessments for planning and development projects
  • Overseeing building acoustics design, sound insulation testing and compliance work
  • Reviewing and signing off technical reports to a high standard
  • Managing client relationships and winning repeat work
  • Supporting the development of junior colleagues
  • Helping shape the office's processes, quality and direction

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in planning and building acoustics, within a consultancy environment
  • A track record of advanced technical work, beyond routine testing and surveys
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or leading others
  • Strong report writing and client-facing skills
  • Degree in acoustics or a related discipline, ideally with IOA membership
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

This is a full-time, office-based position. The team works together in the office, and the Senior Acoustic Consultant is expected to be present as the hub of that team.

If you're an experienced acoustician ready to take on a leadership role with a genuine say in where the business goes next, this Senior Acoustic Consultant opportunity deserves your attention.
