CAD Planning Designer

Location: Reading

Salary: Β£35-45,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced AutoCAD Planning Designer to join a busy and expanding residential team in Reading. This role would suit someone with a strong background in preparing planning drawings for housing developments who enjoys working on a variety of residential projects from initial concept through to planning submission. The successful candidate will work alongside planning and technical professionals to produce high-quality drawings for new-build housing and apartment schemes, ensuring designs are accurate, compliant and delivered to project deadlines.

The Role:

/n

/n
- Prepare planning and presentation drawings using AutoCAD.
/n
- Develop site layouts, masterplans and residential floor plans for housing developments.
/n
- Produce elevations and planning drawings for both houses and apartment schemes.
/n
- Revise and update drawings in response to planning, design and client feedback.
/n
- Ensure all work complies with current Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
/n
- Support the wider design team by providing technical drawing expertise throughout the planning process.
/n
- Maintain accurate drawing records and version control.
/n
- Work across multiple live projects while managing competing priorities.
/n

About You:

/n

The ideal candidate will have previous experience producing AutoCAD drawings within the UK residential sector and be confident working on planning-stage developments.

/n

Applicants should demonstrate:

- Strong AutoCAD proficiency.
/n
- Previous experience working on residential housing developments.
/n
- Knowledge of site layouts, floor plans and building elevations.
/n
- An understanding of UK Building Regulations and planning requirements.
/n
- Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to work.
/n
- The ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines.
/n
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across departments.
/n
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
/n
- Relevant industry experience is essential; formal qualifications are not a prerequisite.
/n
