A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specialising in tailings to join its expanding London-based team. The Role
You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical design and advisory services across a range of mining and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on tailings storage facilities and mine waste management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing design bases from project data, including client specifications, drawings and reports
- Leading and delivering geotechnical designs (earthworks, embankments, dams, excavations, foundations and impoundments)
- Planning, budgeting and managing project assignments from concept through to delivery
- Interpreting site investigation and laboratory data to inform design decisions
- Reviewing technical reports, drawings and specifications
- Overseeing and directing geotechnical site investigations and fieldwork programmes
- Producing clear, concise technical reports for clients
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
- Acting as a key client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships
- Supporting business development, including proposal writing and identifying new opportunities in the mining sector
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- Ideally a Masters (or higher) in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics or similar
- 8+ years' experience in geotechnical design
- Strong experience in mining, tailings or mine waste management preferred
- Proven ability to manage projects and lead technical delivery
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise directly with clients
- Fluent in English (additional languages beneficial)
