Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading global engineering and environmental consultancy in their search for an Environmental Consultant to join their award-winning Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Consultant to work alongside industry leaders within a specialist team of material management, waste, and contaminated land experts. You will contribute to high-profile UK and international infrastructure projects across transportation, energy, water, and the built environment, while developing your career in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
THE ROLE
As an Environmental Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering material management and waste-related services across a variety of projects. You will be responsible for preparing technical reports, undertaking site-based work, and supporting project delivery from initial investigation through to implementation and verification, building your expertise as an Environmental Consultant within a multidisciplinary team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing a wide range of reports including Material Management Plans (MMPs), verification reports, permit applications, and contaminated land assessments
- Designing, organising, and undertaking site investigations and waste assessments
- Auditing contractors to ensure compliance with environmental permits and waste legislation
- Managing the implementation and verification of MMPs on client sites
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders, regulators, and contractors
- Working collaboratively with environmental scientists, engineers, and planners
- Supporting project delivery to ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety procedures and managing site safety
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Environmental Science, Geology, Geography, Chemistry, or similar)
- Working towards Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body
- Experience within a consultancy or similar environment
- Understanding of material management and waste practices on development sites
- Knowledge of relevant industry guidance (e.g. Definition of Waste Code of Practice, WM3)
- Experience undertaking site-based work including sampling, monitoring, and logging
- Strong organisational skills and willingness to undertake fieldwork
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and work on-site as required
- A proactive, collaborative, and enthusiastic approach
