Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading property and planning consultancy in the appointment of an experienced planning professional at Senior Planner, Associate or Associate Director level to join their team in either Lewes or Guildford.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional to work on a diverse portfolio of projects for landowners, developers and land promoters, while taking responsibility for their own projects and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

The Role

As part of the planning team, you will

  • Lead your own planning projects from inception through to delivery.
  • Work across a varied portfolio of planning applications, appeals and Local Plan representations.
  • Provide commercially focused planning advice to landowners, developers and promoters.
  • Support senior colleagues on more complex planning matters.
  • Manage client relationships and develop long-term connections.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute towards growing your own client base.
  • Coordinate external consultants and project inputs to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage project budgets, deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Contribute to the reputation and continued success of the wider planning team.

About You

We are looking for an experienced planning professional who is

  • MRTPI qualified with a strong track record within planning.
  • Experienced in either the private or public sector, ideally with consultancy experience.
  • Confident managing projects and client relationships at all levels.
  • Commercially minded with strong planning judgement.
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • Organised and capable of managing multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • A creative problem-solver who can identify opportunities and practical solutions.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Ambitious and interested in developing their own professional profile and client base.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively.
