This is a wonderful opportunity to join my client, a trusted, eco-conscious Multidisciplinary Company, renowned for lending their expertise to the transport, infrastructure, and environmental landscapes. They are actively seeking a keen, experienced Hydraulic Modeller, willing to take on a variety of projects alongside an established team of professionals, based near the charming, historical town of Newbury.

Responsibilities for the role of Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • Creating models using software packages such as Flood Modeller Pro and Tuflow
  • Producing Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Flood Consequence Assessments, Drainage Strategies, etc.
  • Working on Nutrient Neutrality Assessments, hydrological assessments, natural flood management, re-wilding, and wetland management projects
  • Supporting colleagues, producing technical reports based on the data collated collaboratively
  • Liaising closely with clients and other stakeholders, across the public and private sectors

Required skills and experience for the role of Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • Hold a Degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or a similar, relevant discipline
  • Experience of working in a hydraulic modelling/flood risk role, within a UK-based consultancy setting
  • High proficiency in the use of relevant software systems, including Flood Modeller Pro and Tuflow
  • Excellent working knowledge of hydrology, including experience of having worked on hydrological projects for residential and commercial projects
  • Have a keen interest in flood risk and drainage, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Experience of working closely with a range of clients and other stakeholders
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Keen interest in data interpretation and manipulation, particularly when applied to report-writing
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • Good knowledge of the local area and surrounding region
  • A keen interest in climate change and its effects on water-based environments
