This is an exciting opportunity for a senior engineering geologist to join a well-known, innovative environmental consultancy, who have a Guildford office, where you will have the chance to be part of an award-winning ground engineering team that offers excellent progression opportunities. You will be joining a consultancy, who are winning geotechnical projects with large construction contractors across the South East, where you will be supported by an award-winning Chartered geotechnical design engineer.

To be considered for this engineering geologist position, you need to have a background in geotechnical or/and geo-environmental engineering, be based near Guildford / South West London and be strong with risk assessments/strategies/reviewing reports.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Project Management & Technical Delivery: Managing ground investigations, including planning boreholes, scheduling lab tests, and ensuring projects meet budget, timeline, and safety standards.
  • Geotechnical Reporting & Analysis: Writing and reviewing complex technical interpretative reports, such as Ground Investigation Reports (GIR) and Geotechnical Design Reports (GDR).
  • Site Investigations & Analysis: Designing and conducting site walkovers, desk studies, and supervising field investigations to map geological hazards like landslides, subsidence, or contaminated land.
  • Engineering Analysis & Design: Performing rock and soil logging to industry standards, using software to develop ground models, and calculating geotechnical parameters for foundations and earthworks.
  • Mentoring & Leadership: Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff and ensuring the technical quality of work prepared by colleagues.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Acting as a technical liaison with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver solutions and present technical findings.
